Electronic Index for Rider Perpetual Troubleshooting Manuals, Volumes I through XIX
This is a searchable electronic index for the Rider troubleshooting manuals. I am posting this in response to a thread in the rec.antiques.radio+phono newsgroup which discusses the various Rider CD compilations and the availability of searchable indexes for them.
The printed version of the Rider index is rather wretched, with an inconsistent, confusing, and just plain odd manufacturer listing nomenclature. There were also different versions of the Rider books, with different page numbering schemes. I wrote this electronic index about two years ago as an experiment to see how well I could solve some of the problems associated with finding schematics in Riders. I eventually lost interest in the project because I could not find a complete index in an electronically editable text format anywhere. The information that is presented in this index was gleaned from a number of different sources on the 'net, and only goes as far as volume XIX. That is why you will not find anything listed in this index for items contained in volumes XX thru XXIII. (If you know where a complete index can be obtained for free, please email me with the information).
I designed this index so it can be searched using the brand name normally found on the set, not just the manufacturer's name. So, now you don't have to know that the "Airline" brand name is really Montgomery Ward, or that "Silvertone" is really Sears; either name will deliver the same results.
The resulting index is far from perfect but it's better than the printed version. Installation is easy...just unzip all the files contained in the zip file into a temporary directory of your choice, then double click on the SETUP.EXE file in that directory and follow the instructions and you'll be ready to go.
